It is not only Sardinia that mourns the death of Marco Piga due to illness, but also all of Italian football. Born in Palau in 1956, Marco and his twin brother Mario were protagonists first at Torres (debut at 17) and then at Avellino.
Marco was a striker of modest stature, but capable of outwitting any defender: he scored in Serie C, in Serie B and even in Serie A when he played for Avellino and Lucchese.
His twin brother Mario took to social media to share these touching words: "My dearest beloved twin, you really messed me up. Our agreements were different... Fly high like you did when you scored impossible goals."
Hundreds of messages of condolence from fans in many parts of Italy. Torres already expressed her sorrow last night ("You will not be forgotten") and her condolences to the family. Avellino is also in mourning.
