Silvio Carta, founder of the Baratili San Pietro winery, passed away this afternoon at the age of 97. For over 70 years, the company had relied on his constant presence, although for several decades he had been joined in the work by his son Elio.
A winery with its heart immersed in Vernaccia (its Vernaccia di Oristano DOC Riserva 2004 won the title of best Italian wine overall at Vinitaly in 2018 and was named best Italian white wine in 2024) but with its mind set on an international market, given that production has diversified, also focusing, for example, on myrtle and gin.
