Burst of scams in Sardinia to the detriment of Bper account holders . The complaint comes from Adiconsum Sardegna, which presented a complaint to the Antitrust , the Privacy Guarantor and the Postal Police asking to intervene to protect users.

«The phenomenon is that of the so-called “ smishing ”, a form of phishing that uses mobile phones as an attack platform by cybercriminals – explains the president Giorgio Vargiu – Consumers receive an SMS message on their mobile phones that appear to come from their own bank , where you ask for financial or personal information such as your account or credit card number. Those who fall into the trap give their data to criminals and in addition to suffering the theft of sensitive information, they see money stolen from their current account".

In Sardinia, there are already hundreds of Bper account holders who "believed it was their bank asking for data via text message and saw thousands of euros deducted from their accounts - continues Vargiu - A phenomenon that has increased in recent days, after the crediting of thirteenths to workers and pensioners".

However, following the complaints presented by the consumers involved, Bper is responding " by unloading the responsibility for the transfer of personal data to third parties on its customers , refusing requests for reimbursement made by those who have lost money due to this scam - explains Adiconsum - For this reason we have decided to present a complaint to the Antitrust, Privacy Guarantor and Postal Police to investigate the matter, and we invite Sardinian citizens to trash any message sent via text message, email or social network in which they are asked to communicate personal and bank details, contacting the local offices of Adiconsum to obtain support and protection".

He also asked Bper Adiconsum Sardegna to " communicate any hacker attacks or theft of customer data that occurred in the last period ", and this in consideration of the fact that "there are too many bank customers who are the recipients of the scam messages".
