Fake handbags and glasses passed off as designer items seized from a garage in Sassari.
Five thousand items including bags, glasses, and belts ready for sale in AlgheroA Guardia di Finanza operation uncovered a cache of fake items in Sassari. Thousands of handbags, sunglasses, and belts bearing the names of well-known international brands were being passed off as genuine. However, the bags labeled Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Fendi, and Prada were actually fakes, ready to be sold between the historic center and the Alghero seafront.
The financial police's discovery came after checks on a man selling numerous counterfeit products in Alghero. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of a warehouse in the historic center of Sassari , adjacent to the man's home, which he was using as a storage area for his numerous counterfeit goods.
At the end of the operation, over 5,000 items were seized. The seller was charged with receiving stolen goods, introducing into the country, and selling products with false markings.
