Fake financial operators defraud a couple from Gavoi: 9 thousand euros withdrawn from their account

They pretend to be financial operators and manage to extort a whopping 9 thousand euros from an elderly couple .
The scam took place in Gavoi and four people were reported by the Carabinieri of the local station .
They pretended to be operators of an online platform specialized in the sale of cryptocurrencies and, promising significant earnings, convinced the couple to download an application on their smartphone through which they took possession of their current account credentials, withdrawing approximately 9 thousand euros .
And it could have been even worse, but fortunately the victims, when asked for further details, sensed the deception and refused to provide further data, subsequently contacting the police.
The men of the Carabinieri immediately blocked the account, preventing the criminals from withdrawing any more money, and began the investigations that led to the identification of the four scammers , reported to the Nuoro Prosecutor's Office.
The Carabinieri urge you to always be alert to the increasingly sophisticated techniques with which scammers manage to gain the trust of their victims. And they also invite you to participate in the meetings that the Carabinieri often organize with local communities to warn citizens.
