Two weeks ago, a young couple was arrested in the square in Nebida, a seaside hamlet of Iglesias, accused of aggravated fraud, conspiracy to commit burglary, receiving stolen goods, and resisting arrest. Today, the stolen goods were handed over to their rightful owners.

The case involving two women who fell victim to a fake Carabiniere scam ended on a high note. The real Carabiniere returned the stolen jewelry to the women yesterday.

"We have put an end," the Carabinieri said, "to the victims' anguish, restoring not only the economic value of the jewels, but above all the profound sentimental value tied to the memories of a lifetime."
