A 48-year-old entrepreneur allegedly extorted money from a manager of the Municipality of Cagliari .

The man, a resident of Cagliari, was arrested yesterday by the Flying Squad and placed under house arrest .

The investigations started from a public contract not paid by the Municipality due to irregularities in the contributions of the small entrepreneur's company, owner of a ferrous material disposal business.

Due to the non-payment, the man allegedly began to threaten the manager who had proposed the job. Then a job was also given to the suspect's wife, who was also not paid for tax reasons.

The threats became more and more insistent. And finally the official, to avoid reprisals, paid a significant sum of money from his own pocket . Money that was evidently not enough for the entrepreneur, who continued to threaten him, demanding the entire sum .

So the manager filed a complaint and the agents of the Flying Squad, investigating coordinated by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office, obtained important evidence not only on the extortion episodes but also on some thefts carried out in the municipal warehouses by the entrepreneur himself .

The investigating judge therefore ordered house arrest with an electronic bracelet for the 48-year-old, given the serious evidence of guilt, the social danger and the risk of repetition of the crimes.
