There is also a fishmonger's shop in a large city market among the premises that have ended up under the scrutiny of the prosecutor's office : fish and mussels of dubious origin would have ended up on the refrigerated counters of the shop. The investigation into the sale and use of untraceable fish products in the restaurant business is widening, culminating in recent days with the notices of investigation to the owner of a restaurant in Oristano , a restaurant-pizzeria in Torregrande , a pizzeria in Cabras and a restaurant in Baratili San Pietro . Finally, the seizure of over two hundred kilos of food ready to be served at the table was ordered, even if in poor condition or even already expired.

The police, in collaboration with the port authority and the department of hygiene and health prevention of the ASL of Oristano, during the checks and searches, also combed through the fish shop, inside a supermarket. And irregularities and anomalies were found ; at the moment the owner is not among the suspects but the investigations are ongoing.

The investigation began about a year ago after controls were stepped up following a summit at the prefecture on problems related to illegal fishing. During one of those operations, the police's inland waters team surprised two fishermen with a large quantity of mussels, just stolen from the Nieddittas company's animal facility. The two were arrested while two other accomplices managed to escape on board a dinghy, and were then helped to disappear by their respective girlfriends.

The men of the flying squad (coordinated by the deputy commissioner Samuele Cabizzosu) did not take long to identify them and the investigation continued. Thus, from the examination of the cell phones and various wiretaps, frequent contacts with private customers and especially with some restaurateurs emerged: they agreed on prices (always very low) and weekly, the fishermen supplied the businesses with sea bream, sea bass, mussels, sea urchins and razor clams. A tried and tested system that had been going on for some time, dodging all the rules on traceability, certificates of origin and even basic hygiene rules.

The four defendants (three are assisted by the lawyer Gianfranco Siuni) reject the charges and are waiting to see the documents in order to better clarify their position before the judiciary.
