An investigation has been opened into the death of Giovanni Orani, the engineer found dead in Sassari on August 23, inside his car in the Scala di Giocca area .

The file, currently against unknown persons, is headed by prosecutor Elisa Succu and aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the 44-year-old's disappearance.

An autopsy has already been performed on the body by Dr. Jessica Sanna, the medical examiner appointed by the prosecutor's office, and toxicology tests will also be performed to determine whether the professional had taken any drugs before his death.

These analyses will shed light on details such as the lack of obvious trauma to Orani's body, discovered in his Volkswagen Passat station wagon beyond a ravine near the hairpin bends of the road connecting Sassari to the "Carlo Felice" hospital. This vehicle could, if necessary, be subjected to further examination by forensic scientists.

The investigation, assigned to the Carabinieri, will also have to ascertain with certainty the time of the 44-year-old's death, which may not have occurred on the day he was found.

The man had left his home on Friday, August 21, without taking his documents or cell phone . His family immediately reported him missing, and a two-day search began, culminating in Giovanni Orani's discovery 48 hours later.
