"I must honestly say that we have finally resolved a years-long dispute with Sardinia over the energy framework, and Sardinia remains the last country in Italy to develop a plan. This must lead us to overtake coal in the coming years, because coal-based generation, in addition to being highly polluting, also costs much more."
This was stated by Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment and Energy Security , on the sidelines of the 21st edition of the Energies & Transition High School convention, organized by Confartigianato in Sardinia.
"I'm not accusing anyone, but today we've reached a balance with the current regional government , which envisions two regasification plants, one in Porto Torre and one in Oristano, and a pipeline connecting the Oristano plant to the south," the minister continued, before addressing the issue of wind turbines in Sardinia. "I want to say that we need balance , and that exaggerations on either side are not good. I believe that the demands for wind power in Sardinia are due to a complete liberalization that occurred in the past, and that we're trying to stem this with suitable areas on the one hand, and also with certain mechanisms regarding the grid on the other."
