A happy event occurred this morning on the Areus air ambulance. The emergency services were activated by the Sassari 118 Operations Center after a call from the Trinità d'Agultu Reception Center regarding a pregnant woman whose waters had broken.

The Costa Paradiso base vessel and the Areus helicopter rescue service from Olbia immediately arrived on site.

The woman, of Maghreb origins, was immediately transferred to the Gynecological Clinic of the AOU of Sassari, but the baby did not want to wait and was born in the helicopter a few moments before take-off .

The air ambulance team assisted both mother and child throughout the journey to Sassari. Both are doing well.
