Ten years of books, meetings, ideas, and protagonists of Italian culture. The Guasila Festival dell'Altrove reaches its tenth edition in 2026 and returns on September 5th and 6th with a program that intertwines literature, journalism, current affairs, music, and entertainment.

Writer Matteo Porru, artistic director of the festival, brings some of the most interesting voices in Italian culture to the heart of Trexenta. Guests include Valerio Lundini, Sonia Bergamasco, Vincenzo Mollica, Antonio Padellaro, Gaja Cenciarelli, Federico Ruffo, Gabriella Genisi, and Antonella Lattanzi. This special edition looks to the future but also to memory, with a journey dedicated to the rediscovery of the work of Giulio Angioni, a Guasila writer and anthropologist, one of the great narrators of contemporary Sardinia. "Over ten years, the Festival dell'Altrove has become a point of reference in the cultural landscape and a significant element of the Trexenta identity in Sardinia," emphasizes Guasila Mayor Paola Casula. "In Guasila, we have welcomed writers, journalists, artists, and intellectuals, while also contributing to the promotion of tourism in the area. Culture thus becomes a concrete tool for promoting our towns, their history, and their communities." The Festival is promoted by the Municipality of Guasila, with the support of the Sardinia Region – Department of Public Education – and the Fondazione di Sardegna, and organized by the ACS Local Authorities Association.

The program kicks off on Saturday, September 5th at 6:00 PM with Bruno Luverà and Vincenzo Mollica, who will present "I Love Rock Triglie" (Rai Libri, 2025), with Elena Laudante. The book focuses on Andrea Camilleri, told through Mollica's encounters and conversations with the Sicilian writer over a period of twenty years. At 7:00 PM, Antonio Padellaro will present "When We Were Happy" (Piemme), in conversation with Maria Chiara Esposito. The journalist and founder of Il Fatto Quotidiano intertwines personal memories and collective experiences, recounting the changes in Italy over the past few decades. At 8:00 PM, Federico Ruffo, host of Mi manda on Rai 3, will present "Black Sea" (Rai Libri, 2025), together with Paolo Mastino. At 9:30 PM, Sonia Bergamasco will be interviewed by Matteo Porru, in a discussion about her career in film, theater, and television. Following this, Tommaso Giartosio, the voice of Rai Radio 3, will be the protagonist of #ilmiogiulio, the series dedicated to the rediscovery of the work of Giulio Angioni. Musical interludes will be provided by Sergio Piras and Rox Camellini. On Sunday, September 6, at 5:00 PM, Gaja Cenciarelli will present The Revolutionary and the Teacher (Marsilio), in conversation with Sofia Landolfi. The novel, nominated for the Strega Prize at the recommendation of Serena Dandini, intertwines the story of two Uruguayan Tupamaro revolutionaries during the dictatorship of the 1970s and that of a precarious teacher in contemporary Rome. At 6:00 PM, Gabriella Genisi will present The Devil's Mirror (Rizzoli, 2026), together with Paola Pilia. At 7:00 PM, Antonella Lattanzi will present Chiara (Einaudi, 2025), in conversation with Ludovica Mauri. The tenth edition will close at 9:30 pm with Valerio Lundini, interviewed by Matteo Porru. The second day will also feature the #ilmiogiulio event with Tommaso Giartosio, while musical interludes will be provided by Ilaria Porceddu and Emanuele Contis.

The Festival thus confirms Guasila's vocation to become, for two days, a place of encounter and discussion that transcends the confines of this small town in Trexenta. And the tenth anniversary also becomes an opportunity to renew the relationship with Giulio Angioni and reaffirm his value beyond Sardinia's borders. The journey will continue on October 25th, when Guasila will host the final of the 10th edition of the Giulio Angioni Prize, dedicated to the memory and legacy of the writer and anthropologist. This is another step in the "restitution" project that aims to make the town a hub of cultural production and dissemination, in the name of a writer capable of describing Sardinia through a European lens.
