She has decided to give "the citizens back the floor": thus, the mayor of Elmas, Maria Laura Orrù , is resigning. The announcement came today, during the City Council meeting. Before the assembly, Orrù explained the reasons behind her decision to end a situation that would no longer allow her to optimally carry out her administrative duties and, consequently, ensure a benefit to the community.

Despite the "possibility of counting on the numbers to continue the mandate" , the mayor has decided to return to the polls : " I firmly believe in democracy and its values ," she underlined, "for this reason I believe that the word must return to the voters , so that they can exercise their responsibility and freely choose which project to entrust the future of Elmas to and which team is the most reliable to lead our town."

Given the time constraints, the Municipality will be able to hold a second election in the next spring elections, a decision made to "avoid a prolonged period of special administration," emphasizes Orrù, who announces: "I will run on a renewed list, the result of a great turnout."
