Five minors were searched this morning by Carabinieri officers from the Cagliari branch, implementing orders issued by the Juvenile Court's Public Prosecutor's Office in the investigation into the abuse inflicted on an eleven-year-old between July and September. The abuse was captured on video and posted on social media. (We are not mentioning the name of the town in the province to protect the victim.)
The charges against the young men are serious: they are being investigated, on various counts, for gang rape, aggravated theft, stalking, private violence, and the unlawful dissemination of sexually explicit videos.
Investigators are monitoring any further illegal distribution of videos of the sexual assault, which, even when committed by adults, constitutes a further crime in itself.
The eleven-year-old was forced to kneel and kiss his tormentors' shoes. They kicked and punched him, and subjected him to other unspeakable abuse. The entire thing was filmed on cell phones by two girls from the gang, and the video was posted on Instagram, its violence intensifying with every click.
