The regional control room is ready for the Einstein Telescope , the gravitational wave observatory that could be built in the former Sos Enattos mine , in Lula , if Sardinia wins the "challenge" against Limburg , another territory – on the border between Holland and Belgium – in the running to become the headquarters of the prestigious scientific project.
The green light for the control room came from the Todde council : the body will be coordinated by the governor and will be composed of the councilors for Programming, General Affairs, Local Authorities, Industry, Public Works and Labour, as well as the mayors of the municipalities in the area affected by the project (i.e. Lula, Bitti, Onanì, Orune) and the mayor of Nuoro.
«The Einstein Telescope project - explains President Todde - is among the priorities of the programmatic actions of the Regional Administration, for this reason the organization of an internal multilevel governance is necessary to strengthen the candidacy».
The control room – explains the Region – will carry out a coordination action, to accompany and manage, both from a political and technical point of view, the activities in support of the candidacy of Sos Enattos, the orientation of resources and the definition of policies.
From time to time, it may involve additional regional Departments, Bodies and Agencies, directly interested in the particular topic discussed. Furthermore, always on the basis of the topic discussed, the most representative trade unions, employers' organizations, capital Municipalities, associations of Municipalities, Unions of Municipalities and the Mountain Communities of the Wide Area will be involved.
"The involvement of so many Departments and other institutional bodies in the Control Room - Todde underlines - is the demonstration of how the Einstein Telescope project goes beyond the scientific aspect alone and invests the territory and the possibilities of development in all its meanings: from the economy, to work, from infrastructures, to welfare, up to culture and the environment".
For the Einstein Telescope, the Region has already allocated 350 million euros as a share of the participation with the Ministry of Universities, 20 million for interventions that will concern the restructuring of the Minghetti Dam , necessary to improve the management of the water resources in the area, and the adaptation of the access road to the ET SUnLab Research Centre, in turn co-financed by the Region with another 10 million, which will be built in the area of the former Ri.Mi.Sa.
