While most Sardinian hoteliers are giving up on opening for Easter (which this year is rather "low": it will be on April 5th), Forte Village is playing it safe: the Santa Margherita di Pula resort will kick off the tourist season as early as March 25th with the now traditional tennis event (ITF tournament).
This decision bucks the trend of other resorts and large hotels, which have preferred to avoid the risk of being empty after the holidays: the smaller establishments (around 270/280, according to Federalberghi) will be open for Easter, as will the Costa Smeralda, while for the others, the most popular opening date is April 25th, with a crescendo that will continue throughout May.
The outlook is good, despite the uncertainties of recent months regarding the availability of air connections to and from the island and the doubts raised by news of the damage caused by Cyclone Harry. Industry stakeholders are reviewing the path to achieving true deseasonalization, highlighting the progress made in recent years, proposals, and obstacles to be overcome.
