Earthquake in Forestas: Sole Administrator Salvatore Piras could not be appointed by the Regional Council; his appointment was declared null and void by the Office of the Regional Director for Corruption Prevention and Transparency. And now the reckoning has begun: proceedings have been initiated to identify any liability, both among those who appointed him and the person directly involved, for the alleged "false statements."

According to the order signed by the regional Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Federica Loi, Piras is "ineligible for appointment," and therefore incompatible with the role of sole director of the important agency, because "in the year prior to being appointed," he held the position and/or served as General Manager of the company "Opera Gesù Nazareno Srl (Ge.Na.)," which maintains financial relations with the Region , from which it receives payments for its services. Piras's appointment—a resolution of the June 2024 regional council—and contract have been declared null and void.

Not only that: the regional Anti-Corruption Authority has initiated " a separate proceeding, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Anti-Corruption Authority, aimed at verifying the subjective element of intent or negligence, even slight , both of the individuals who at the time of the appointment made up the body that conferred the role and of the appointed person in relation to the hypothesis of false declaration regarding the non-existence of the aforementioned cause for ineligibility".
