Cocaine and hashish from Spain to Sardinia via postal shipments .

Over six kilos of drugs were seized and four men, the recipients of the packages, were arrested red-handed .

The operation by the Green Berets and the Cagliari Guardia di Finanza dog units intercepted a supply channel that exploited commercial shipments to bring drugs into Sardinia.

While checking postal sorting centers in the Cagliari metropolitan area, the financial police focused their attention on several packages considered at risk both due to their origin (Spain, where 11 packages containing 25 kilos of hashish have already been detected in recent months) and due to anomalies in the sender and recipient identification data.

Three of these “packages” were flagged by drug-sniffing dogs and inspected: inside them were more than five and a half kilos of pure cocaine and half a kilo of hashish .

Stakes were then launched in Cagliari and San Giovanni Suergiu to identify the drug recipients. In Cagliari , SD, a 45-year-old with a criminal record and a resident of the hinterland, and LD, a 25-year-old with no criminal record from Sarrabus, were arrested . They showed up to collect two packages containing 3.4 and 2.3 kilos of cocaine, respectively.

Cocaine which, given its degree of purity, once cut would have allowed around 15 thousand doses to be placed on the market, for a turnover of around one million euros .

In San Giovanni Suergiu, the other two men, GF and SM, young Italians with no criminal record, aged 18 and 19, residing in Sulcis, were stopped . They were the ones who had collected the third package, which contained over half a kilo of hashish.

The four arrested were all taken to Uta prison.
