The rains, long-awaited in recent months, have arrived. Despite this, Coldiretti Sardegna and Sardinian agricultural companies remain highly concerned about the damage caused this year by the wave of drought that has hit the agricultural and livestock sectors throughout the region and which has not yet been compensated. Concerns aggravated by recent news about problems accessing the National Solidarity Fund to assign compensation.
Thus the trade association, in a letter sent to the president of the region Todde and to the councilor for Agriculture, Gian Franco Satta, has collected a series of concrete proposals to offer useful suggestions to implement an act of the regional council (through a resolution) to resolve the situation and activate specific measures useful to overcome the impasse.
Among the proposed actions are "the identification of a date of cessation of the damaging event; the redefinition of the extension of the affected surface, including the entire territory of the Municipalities in which the 544 companies that have already reported damage fall. Based on the data provided by the Laore Agency (and by resolution 33/15 of 09.11.2024) it is essential to consider an affected surface of over 860,000 hectares and not just 18,000 hectares as declared in the previous administrative act".
Furthermore, it is requested to "redefine the need for compensation, acquiring updated data from the Sian portal regarding the crops grown and the areas involved (a procedure that can be carried out quickly through the Caa Coldiretti system, which represents approximately 50% of the regional company files)". And, again, "the launch of a request for a specific exemption for access to all the benefits provided for by decree 102/2004, not only for the National Solidarity Fund, but also for other forms of support provided for such as the relief of INPS contributions and a possible moratorium on mortgages. Furthermore, the contradictory participation in the decision-making process of the Ministry of Agriculture, to ensure that the needs of Sardinian companies are adequately represented (as happened for Sicily) and to be able to respond to any observations during the process".
For Coldiretti, it is appropriate to have "a direct political dialogue that can provide, as for the 37 million for Sicily in the agriculture decree of last summer, an extraordinary provision that allocates money also for Sardinia".
