2026 will be a terrible year for primary care in Sardinia: dozens of general practitioners are retiring, from Cagliari to Sassari and the surrounding areas of Gavoi, Bitti, Lula, Onanì, and many others.

Attempts are being made to plug the gap with Ascot community clinics, but the Fimmg union warns: "They need to be modified, and the Region must immediately convene a meeting to discuss incentives for disadvantaged areas."

Meanwhile, the new directors of the local health authorities are taking office: in Ogliastra, the geriatrician from Campania, Andrea Fabbo, is appointed.
