A night of Civil Protection interventions in Gallura : the intense and intermittent rainfall of recent hours , together with the wind, have given the regional operators and the police a lot to do.
In Olbia, the night passed without any particular problems . Firefighters intervened to secure roads after fallen branches and poles, and buildings were also secured. Some flooding is a concern, but the city's network of canals is ensuring water is draining smoothly. The underpass on Via Amba Alagi remains closed.
Mayor Settimo Nizzi stated: "We continue to monitor all critical areas of the town; all canals are under strict control." In Tempio and nearby towns, several interventions have been carried out due to fallen trees and flooding, which have not caused significant damage . The Tempio Civil Protection Association is responding to the fall of a large tree in the San Lorenzo pine forest, in the town center. City Councilor Francesco Quargnenti and the head of volunteers, Roberto Cossu, will conduct several inspections of the at-risk areas this morning.
In Arzachena, the municipal councilor responsible for Civil Protection, Alessandro Malu, is coordinating the activities of volunteer groups , with the utmost attention being given to the Lu Mulinu area. The Rio Piatu, in the Sant'Antonio di Gallura area, is also being closely monitored. Mayor Carlo Viti confirmed that the situation is under control. Flooding of a basement in the town center has been reported.
Connections between Palau and La Maddalena continue, with only one ferry. In Santa Teresa, the 7:30 a.m. departure of the ferry to Bonifacio has been canceled. Also in La Maddalena, landslides and some fallen trees have been reported. Mayor Fabio Lai has decided not to close schools, a decision that has sparked controversy.
