The mayor of Dorgali has declared a day of mourning for tomorrow, in mourning for the passing of Dr. Maddalena Carta, 38, a general practitioner.
The doctor died yesterday in Cagliari, at the Brotzu hospital, where she had been transported by air ambulance after feeling ill on Thursday evening.
The news of her passing has deeply affected the entire Dorgali area and beyond . Maddalena Carta, a young professional, was known for her dedication to her work and caring for people. In past years, she had also volunteered during the Cortes Apertas festival, as a Croce Verde worker.
As a sign of respect and sympathy for the family's grief , the Municipality has ordered the suspension of public activities in conjunction with the funeral, which will be held tomorrow morning at 9:00.
During the funeral, flags will be flown at half-mast on municipal buildings. Public and recreational activities will be temporarily suspended, and this year's Cortes Apertas will be dedicated to Dr. Carta's memory.
The municipal administration led by Mayor Angela Testone , in proclaiming a day of mourning, "invites citizens to maintain a behavior marked by sobriety and respect, even during the activities planned in the town, to honor the memory of a figure so dear to the community."
