An illegal hunting rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, air rifles, and night-hunting equipment were seized by Forestry Corps officers during a raid by the Investigative Unit of the Iglesias Departmental Inspectorate, as part of a hunting control operation.

It all started with the interception of a car headed toward the mountainous areas of the area. Inside were a father and son, both without a rifle license. A search of the vehicle revealed an illegally held hunting rifle of unauthorized origin, as well as a large quantity of ammunition, several knives, and a cleaver.

The investigation continued at the two men's homes, with house searches conducted with the support of local forestry station personnel. The investigation revealed, according to investigators' findings, that the conduct was not occasional. A second illegal hunting rifle was found in the homes, along with several hundred rifle and air gun cartridges.

Night hunting equipment was also seized, including high-intensity rifle flashlights and precision optics, as well as numerous steel snares: non-selective trapping tools, potentially lethal for wild boars and other wild or domestic species, including deer, dogs, and goats.

All the material found was seized. Both father and son were reported at large to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cagliari.

The driver of the car was also charged with traffic violations for driving without a license and for not having third-party liability insurance. The vehicle was administratively seized.
