First measures have been taken against the hunter accused of killing a Maremma sheepdog in the countryside of Su Trambuccone , in Olbia.
The Carabinieri seized the rifle allegedly used to kill the dog and all the weapons in the man's possession. They also suspended his hunting license and reported him to the Public Prosecutor's Office for several crimes (all yet to be proven).
The incident occurred on the morning of October 8th in the Su Trambuccone area, on the outskirts of Olbia. The Carabinieri have already identified the person who allegedly fired at least two rifle shots at Zeus, killing the poor animal. He was a hunter who was in the Su Trambuccone area on a hunt.
The Carabinieri personnel are also investigating another circumstance: the owner of the killed dog reported being threatened with a rifle by the hunter , whom he had asked (before he killed the Maremma Sheepdog) to leave his land. The accused person allegedly explained his reaction by the dog Zeus's aggressive behavior toward his hunting hounds. However, based on initial evidence gathered, the hunter's behavior appears disproportionate.
Lida di Olbia has confirmed its intention to support Zeus's owner in any legal action.
