The House of Divine Providence in Sassari loses some of its guests. This morning, two other patients left the institute in via Sant'Anna to reach Casa Serena , the municipal facility which, at the moment, should accommodate around 13 elderly people overall, all those who have an agreement with the Municipality.

An exodus that proceeds precisely on the day scheduled for the transfer of all guests , a consequence of the bankruptcy of the Foundation sanctioned by the court at the end of 2023 , and of the bankruptcy trustee's invitation to family members to provide for their loved ones by today. Ultimatum also dictated by the unusability of the institute which has persisted for some time.

"We have presented - declares Fabio Fadda, lawyer for the relatives of the elderly - a request to the bankruptcy court judge to give us an extension".

There would be around 25 people left in Divine Providence who have only three possibilities before them: going to an RSA, an integrated community or reaching the homes of their relatives . Events that are not always feasible . «How can they send my uncle to a community in Anela? - asks one lady for example - It's too far away».

The fees, from a minimum of 2 thousand euros up to 2800 and more, are not affordable for family members. "Unfortunately, however - adds Fadda - there are not even places either in the RSAs of the province or in the regional ones". A dramatic context also for the approximately 20 workers of Divine Providence waiting for the dismissal letter . "We haven't received anything yet", they declare, also because the meeting with the joint examination with the curator and the unions should take place this week. In the meantime, other transfers are expected during the week as well as the possibility, at this point increasingly unlikely, of a last-minute miracle that will keep the House open and the jobs and permanence of the remaining guests intact.
