Dive in Balai for 170 daring: the 89 year old Salvatore Delogu the first in the water

The most spectacular and fun-filled auspicious initiative of the year involved over 170 bathers and an extraordinary public presence.
The veteran Salvatore Delogu, 89 years old on January 25th, is the true protagonist of the charity event which this year has donated funds to Emergency . At the head of the whole group he dived first. Punctual at 11.50 after the countdown. «Low temperatures don't scare me, - he says - bathing is healthy, a good omen for the new year. I wish everyone peace in the world."
A sunny day with 14 degrees of sea water temperature and 17 degrees outside, measurements collected by Antonio Unida, one of the most assiduous enthusiasts of out-of-season diving. Participants belong to all age groups. From 8 to 88 years old. «They come from all over Sardinia and three of them even from Sydney, Australia, a sign that this event is growing in consensus and image for the city, a moment of sharing, joy and solidarity», explains Lello Cau, one of the promoters of the initiative. It is part of the "Daredevils" group that has been organizing the event for almost twenty years now, a well-tested machine complete with a safety system, with the Avis associations and volunteers to guarantee any emergency response.
The meeting at 11 with dancing and singing, thanks to the support of Giovanni Cordella and then everyone in the water. This time with the yellow technical t-shirt.
