The war in the Middle East and the climate of tension over the events of the Flotilla are also sparking conflict in the regional council.
The fuse was lit by Valdo Di Nolfo (United for Todde) on social media, posting a story with a photograph of the Prime Minister and the caption "I am Giorgia, I am a woman, I am a mother and I am an accomplice to the genocide" .
Paolo Truzzu, leader of the FdI party, was furious: "It is extremely serious that even institutional representatives are irresponsibly mimicking the violent demonstrations , accusing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of being an 'accomplice to genocide' in a social media post. Valdo Di Nolfo used language unworthy and inappropriate for a regional councilor. It's a despicable way to exploit political propaganda at the expense of the Palestinian people ," thundered the former mayor of Cagliari.
Truzzu asks that President Todde and the centre-left "immediately distance themselves from these tones and these accusations, which have nothing to do with legitimate political controversy and which constitute the crime of defamation" .
