He had a sawed-off shotgun hidden in the mud , among leaves and rocks, in a particularly inaccessible rural area . For this reason, a 29-year-old from Desulo, already on probation and known to law enforcement for illegal possession of a clandestine weapon and assault, was arrested by the Carabinieri of the S'Arcu di Tascusi Squadron engaged in territorial control.
During the operation, the officers found, on the premises of the sheepfold used by the suspect, a white cellophane bag hidden among leaves, rocks, and mud . Inside was a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun with the serial number erased, along with five 12-gauge shotshells. The weapon and ammunition were immediately seized.
The man was declared under arrest and on the morning of January 26 the investigating judge of the Oristano Court validated the arrest, ordering his pre-trial detention in prison .
