A non-stop morning yesterday for the 118 volunteers of Aritzo and the 118 station of Sorgono, who intervened in Desulo to provide assistance to a seventy-two-year-old man suffering from a heart attack.
For the Aritzese team, the emergency intervention alongside the India 11 ambulance arrived from Sorgono , stabilizing the patient thanks to the use of the defibrillator and transferring him by helicopter to San Francesco in Nuoro.
And while the pensioner's prognosis remains reserved, the mayor of the town Gian Cristian Melis praises the work of the health workers: «The 118 personnel of Aritzo and that of Sorgone, have once again proven to be essential in dealing with emergencies, with the precious support of the helicopter rescue. Areus pilots and doctors», adds the mayor, «are a blessing for all of us, intervening in critical situations and saving hundreds of human lives».
For this reason Melis relaunches: «The mayors of Barbagia-Mandrolisai have loudly requested the activation of the Areus helibase in Sorgono. It is a fundamental hub for central Sardinia. The rescue of the future will be increasingly based on air transport, essential for saving precious lives».
