It's not just the weekend. Deterioration and petty crime continue to plague Cagliari's historic center during the week, too: in addition to several young Algerians accused of theft, muggings, and serious sexual assaults, alcohol abuse reigns supreme, causing a fifteen-year-old couple to lose control last night after being caught in a very intimate situation right in front of the church of Sant'Eulalia. The police were alerted, and they identified the two teenagers (he and she live in the Cagliari hinterland) as being under the influence of alcohol, and they were then returned to their families. The Juvenile Prosecutor's Office was also notified of the incident.

Law enforcement is also continuing its investigation into a series of incidents of petty crime, particularly between Piazza Matteotti, Piazza del Carmine, and the Corso : thefts and muggings committed by at least three young Algerians, who were also responsible for harassment and an attempted sexual assault (the victim subsequently declined to file a complaint). Furthermore, in the "red zone" and at the Marina, there are frequent late-night disturbances and gatherings of young people, often minors, for the consumption of alcohol. This phenomenon has been reported repeatedly to the Prefecture and is receiving the utmost attention.
