Decimoputzu, fake carabinieri for the foiled lightning kidnapping: hunt for accomplices
They had the uniforms of the Carabinieri and a gun at their disposal: they planned to take him away from home with a false arrest warrant and then force him to hand over hundreds of thousands of euros to them.Video di Mariangela Lampis
The hunt for accomplices continues. The investigations of the Carabinieri Investigative Unit, coordinated by the Cagliari Anti-Mafia District Directorate, into the (thwarted) kidnapping of a man, to rob him of thousands of euros, continue. Money that, according to the bandits' hypothesis, the victim had kept in cash at a relative's house. The military, in the night between Thursday and Friday, carried out a blitz in an isolated farmhouse in the countryside of Decimoputzu.
In prison in Uta, on the orders of the deputy prosecutor Danilo Tronci of the DDA, ended up Matteo Scano and Daniel Corti, two young men from Sestu and Quartu, who were caught with the material ready to carry out the plan. In addition to the gun (a Luger with six rounds caliber 9x19 millimeters) were seized adhesive tape with plastic cable ties, portable radios to keep in touch, stolen cars and uniforms of the force.
The kidnapping plan
The hypothesis of the Antimafia, competent for both kidnappings and particularly bloody robberies or robberies involving weapons of war, is that the gang wanted to play at the victim's house (apparently very wealthy or in any case with a large amount of money) by pretending to be carabinieri and convincing him, through falsified documents, to be taken to the barracks. In reality, once in the car he was tied up with cable ties and forced to go and collect the cash that they were convinced he was kept by a relative. In the blitz of the Investigative Unit (also with colleagues from the Companies of Cagliari, Dolianova, Iglesias and Carbonia) handcuffs, a bricklayer's bribe and two stolen vehicles with recycled license plates were also seized.
The investigation
The investigations began a few weeks ago, when the District Anti-Mafia Directorate's anti-kidnapping plan was triggered. It is not clear whether the news came from a tip-off or whether the investigators got it as part of other investigations, but the fact remains that the military - coordinated by prosecutor Tronci - began to remotely follow the movements of the two young men. In the last 72 hours there was then a sudden acceleration, when the Carabinieri realized that the gang would be ready to act. From that moment on, stakeouts were set up, including with the use of drones, and the planning of the blitz was carried out in an isolated farmhouse in the Fraighedda area, in the Decimoputzu area, where the DDA was convinced that the gang had set up its base. The suspicion, therefore, is that the person to be kidnapped does not live far from the area where the two young men were arrested.
The blitz
The raid was launched during the night between Thursday and Friday, with the military surrounding the farmhouse owned by a man already known to the police. Inside were the two suspects, one 28 and the other 36 years old. The arrested have named Riccardo Floris and Marco Fausto Piras as their lawyers, but for the moment very little information has leaked out, also because the investigators are working to identify and capture the rest of the gang. The Anti-Mafia operation was launched urgently because the suspicion is that the criminals were ready to act with extreme violence, carrying out the robbery with kidnapping. A plan prepared in great detail and followed remotely by the Carabinieri. The two arrested ended up in prison in Uta at the disposal of the investigating judge.
