The incident occurred overnight in Decimoputzu , inside a club, where the man—a Moroccan man already known to law enforcement—was located within minutes by the Carabinieri.

The immediate search launched by the police allowed them to locate the suspect within minutes. A personal search of the young man found him in possession of much of the money and several grams of hashish. He was subsequently arrested for robbery and assault.
