The search for Davide Manca , the 41-year-old sailor from Cagliari who did not have time to leave his Jeep Wrangler after it was hit by a flood wave and swept away by the current at Monte Arcosu, resumed at dawn today .

There has been no news of him since 11.30pm on Saturday , he disappeared, swallowed up by the fury of the storm that hit the area and transformed the streets into trenches.

However, his friends continue to hope that Davide, who everyone calls Bimbo, an expert sea wolf, will be able to overcome this storm too.

With him, at the time of the tragedy, was a friend, who managed to grab onto a rope thrown by his hiking companions and get out of the car which was then overwhelmed by the fury of the water.
