A personal story of pain transformed into a testimony of peace. This is the heart of "Winds of Peace," the Sardinian project, the first stop on their Italian tour by Rami Elhanan and Bassam Aramin , protagonists of Carola Benedetto and Luciana Ciliento's book, "My Father, Your Father" (De Agostini).

Elhanan, an Israeli, and Aramin, a Palestinian, are united by the violent loss of their daughters. Their two experiences, marked by conflict, instead of turning into a new source of hatred, have become an opportunity for encounter and a shared commitment to affirming the possibility of acknowledging the pain of others and breaking the cycle of violence.

It is precisely this path that the Winds of Peace project intends to bring to the attention of Italian and international public opinion and is linked to the candidacy of Rami Elhanan and Bassam Aramin for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Winds of Peace project is carried out by the Giuseppe Dessì Foundation , the Genti Arrubia association, the Municipality of Quartu, the University of Cagliari – Department of Political and Social Sciences, the Faustino Onnis Foundation, the Il Crogiuolo association, thanks to the Fondazione di Sardegna.

Bringing Elhanan and Aramin to schools and universities, the organizers say, means confronting the new generations with a story that offers no preconceived answers, but raises an essential question: what happens when, faced with an irreparable loss, we decide to also acknowledge the pain of others?

"It's true that their testimony alone cannot resolve the complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but their individual stories, rooted in the reality of two losses, forcefully affirm a principle: peace can also begin with the personal choice to reject the logic of revenge and to encounter those on the other side of the conflict."
