Following the exceptionally severe weather that hit the island in January, Banco di Sardegna (BPER Group) has activated a concrete relief measure for its customers , both individuals and businesses, who suffered damage. The institution, according to a statement, is willing to suspend mortgages and unsecured loans, for up to 12 months, on vacated or damaged properties or those related to the management of commercial and economic activities, including agricultural activities, carried out in the same buildings.
The request must be submitted in writing by March 31st, along with a self-certification of the damages incurred . The customer may choose to suspend the entire installment or just the principal amount.
The suspension does not entail the application of any commission or processing fee and can take place without requiring additional guarantees.
"The Bank has always been an integral part of the island's economic and social fabric," says General Manager Mauro Maschio, "and we feel a duty to be there for our communities when their fragility is most evident. The damage caused by Cyclone Harry has affected not only homes and businesses, but also the daily lives and safety of many families and businesses. Therefore, by implementing an immediate and concrete measure, we are offering our customers real support as they navigate the most complex phase of the emergency."
"For us, suspending mortgages for those who have suffered damage," Maschio continued, "is more than just a technical intervention: it represents an act of solidarity with a region we consider part of our identity. We will continue to operate responsibly, aware of the role we play in supporting the recovery and contributing to the stability and development of Sardinia."
