While the funds to deal with the consequences of Cyclone Harry are being allocated , a new meeting has been scheduled for Monday between the general director of the regional Civil Protection, Mauro Merella, the mayors of the affected municipalities and the representatives of the main operational structures involved in managing the emergency.

The aim is to "illustrate the operating methods for assessing damage in the area , the procedures for activating emergency measures , and the tools available to municipalities for urgent interventions ."

An initial estimate of the cyclone's damage has already been established "based on initial assessments": over €200 million, "subject to subsequent updates," according to a statement from the Civil Protection Department. This figure, however, is "essential for the purposes of the investigation for the declaration of a state of emergency of national significance," and an aspect on which Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni assured immediate action during a video conference held yesterday afternoon with Sardinia Regional President Alessandra Todde and the Presidents of the Calabria and Sicily regions. The Council of Ministers is scheduled to meet on Monday to declare a national emergency and advance "an initial allocation to address immediate needs and ensure initial relief, pending a complete and comprehensive assessment of the damage."
