Cyclone Harry devastates the Nora lagoon, causing extensive damage to infrastructure and fishing.

The fury of Cyclone Harry also severely damaged the Nora Lagoon area, profoundly impacting the lagoon park's infrastructure and causing significant damage and losses to local fishing activities.
The CEAS (Center for Environmental Education and Sustainability) is assessing all the critical issues caused by the recent storm . The seawall bordering the lagoon, the only access road to the park, has been subjected to the constant pressure of the waves, which continues to this day, and the force of the water has created deep sinkholes, making even service access impossible. The cyclone collapsed the protective fences on the lagoon side and tore away the cladding of the seawall , which fortunately withstood the fury of the waves. As for the structures of the fishing and juvenile fish catchment facilities , located at the lagoon's two sea inlets, the extensive damage has also compromised the functionality of the access bridge to the seawall, deteriorating the support beams and making it no longer safe to support the weight of motorized vehicles.
Along the Fradis Minoris Peninsula, the cyclone's fury caused the Tyrrhenian Sea to collapse in two places, anticipating events that normally occur over geological timescales. The fossil beach , exploited by the ancient Romans as a sandstone quarry, suffered structural failures in two places , one of which blocked internal traffic towards the lagoon's mouth, located near Agumu beach.
Furthermore, to prevent the inflowing streams from overflowing and the resulting flooding of the surrounding land, water flow has been guaranteed by opening the protective grilles at the mouth of the sea. This has resulted in the loss of a significant percentage, estimated at 40%, of the fish stock , compromising fishing production. Activity is currently paralyzed , says the president of the Cooperative, Giuseppe Ollano , who reported that " to prevent the compromise of the seasonal opening of the Lagoon Park and the resumption of activities, we are activating all possible channels of assistance. Because this time we truly cannot do it alone. In 40 years of managing the lagoon, we have witnessed major disasters, but never have we seen 6-meter waves hit with the frequency and fury of Cyclone Harry ."
"We will not lack courage," states the CEAS management, "and with the help of the regional administration and, above all, the Municipality of Pula, which has been active since the very beginning, we want to restore the Nora Lagoon to its distinctive scenic beauty, to give it back to the schools, residents, and tourists who visit every year, learning about the lagoon's important ecosystem." Pula's mayor, Walter Cabasino, emphasized: "For the Municipality, the CEAS is a vital resource for the community and the region. Therefore, we hope for rapid repairs so that the Environmental Education Center can resume its related production activities as soon as possible."
