Cyclone from the Sardinia channel: strong thunderstorms and storms arriving on the island

The weather conditions in Sardinia are destined to worsen further. The forecast is from the regional civil protection.

«A cyclonic system located between the Baleri islands and the island», reads the bulletin released in the early afternoon, «will enter the Sardinian channel during the night. Tomorrow morning the cyclone will cross the channel in an easterly direction and then reach the Tyrrhenian Sea in the early afternoon".

The transit "will determine a worsening of the meteorological conditions, particularly in the southern sector".

For this reason «starting from the night and until tomorrow evening», March 1st, « precipitation is also expected in the nature of downpours or thunderstorms with locally high cumulatives, in particular in southern Sardinia. Furthermore, in the first part of the day on Wednesday, on the southern coasts of the island, locally strong winds with gusts up to storms from the southern quadrants in successive rotation from the north-west will be possible".

The attached tables add that a yellow alert has also been issued for today's evening for Sulcis and Campidano, linked to hydrogeological risk, which tomorrow will be extended to Sarrabus and Ogliastra.

Possible snowfalls above 800 meters in the central sectors.
