CTM buses in Sestu? A reform is needed. Regional Transport Councillor Barbara Manca admitted it. Todde, a member of the municipal council, clarified that it is currently not possible to modify the structure of local public transport services in Sardinia, since all existing contracts, including those of ARST and CTM , are currently under technical extension.
Speaking during a debate in Sestu, the councilor explained that " new contracts, and therefore any extensions of services, can only be signed following the completion of the reform of local public transport," a process being pursued to make up for the delay accumulated over nearly twenty years compared to the deadline set by the 2007 European regulation.
Responding to the mobility needs of Sestu, which has seen significant growth in recent years, it recognized that the area deserves increasingly integrated connections with the greater Cagliari area.
In this regard, Manca wanted to clarify that "the Sardinia Region has not vetoed Sestu's possible entry into the CTM network, just as it does not oppose the possibility of ARST providing services with similar frequencies" , underlining however that for now the issue remains tied exclusively to service contracts and available resources, pending the definitive completion of the sector reform.
