This appointment marks a new chapter in the history of the service sector union in Sardinia. Cristiano Ardau was elected to the UILTuCS National Secretariat on Saturday during the 13th National Congress of the sector, held at the Lingotto in Turin with 1,250 delegates from across Italy.

For the first time since the founding of UILTuCS seventy-five years ago, a Sardinian union leader has joined the national body that will lead the federation for the next four years.

Ardau, a fifty-year-old from Cagliari, joins the national secretariat, which at the congress saw Paolo Andreani confirmed by unanimous acclamation as national general secretary, along with the confirmations of Emilio Fargnoli, Gabriele Fiorino, Samantha Merlo, Marianna Flauto, Paolo Proietti, and Mauro Munari as treasurer.

In the coming weeks, Ardau will officially resign from the leadership of UILTuCS Sardegna, in accordance with UIL's rules on the accumulation of positions.

I welcome this election with a sense of responsibility and gratitude. It is an honor to contribute to the national leadership of UILTuCS during a period of profound transformation in the labor market. Determination, integrity, and a spirit of service will be the guiding principles for best representing service sector workers and further strengthening our organization.

"I'm leaving a constantly growing federation," Ardau adds, "with results built day after day together with the delegates, both male and female, and the entire regional structure. Over the last four years, membership has increased by 27%, and signs point to further growth. But the most important fact isn't just quantitative: we've built political and organizational quality, becoming a point of reference in the service sector through concrete battles for the dignity of work, the fight against poor work, innovation, and new economic challenges."
