«I am ready to step aside and hand in my resignation. I don't intend to be the one to certify the death of the institution." Stony words, those of Giulio Plastina, director of the La Maddalena National Park which are added to the position taken by the employees of the organization in via Giulio Cesare who, through the unions, are about to proclaim a state of agitation without excluding the possibility of a strike; which in the height of the tourist season would be disastrous. The reason for the threatened resignation and the employee protest is the failure of the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security to appoint the president and board of directors of the organization.
In fact, a year has passed since the president Fabrizio Fonnesu and the board concluded their mandate, and in this long period of time the organization has remained and is without political guidance. Which led, first of all, to the failure to approve the 2024 budget forecast (which "bounds" the body in terms of expenses and activities); and then that of the Integrated Activity and Organization Plan, which contains, among others, the Personnel Requirements, Performance and Agile Work Plan; and again the failure to approve the 2022 and 2023 Performance report, with consequent suspension of the additional salary. A series of difficulties and, it seems, crossed vetoes, have so far prevented the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security from appointing not only the president and the board of directors but not even that of a commissioner.
