Italian craft beer increasingly tastes of Sardinia . Two well-known faces of the island's beer scene join the Board of Directors of the Consorzio Birra Italiana, the most important body in the sector: Antonio Zanda, director of the Birrificio 4Mori in Guspini, and Mauro Loddo, owner of the Marduk agricultural brewery in Irgoli.
An important recognition that rewards the tireless work of two entrepreneurs who believed in the value of the Sardinian agricultural supply chain and in the quality of an entirely local production . «I am honored to represent Sardinia – says Zanda – and to give voice to local realities, supporting a beer that enhances our territory».
Loddo agrees, seeing this appointment as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between craft breweries and farmers: «We want to build a sustainable and quality production model, making agricultural beer a flagship of Made in Italy».
In recent years, Sardinia has built an increasingly solid agricultural beer supply chain . With the first supply chain contract on the Island, involving twenty breweries and the Isola Sarda cooperative, the region is aiming for 100% local production. From barley to hops, through malting, each step of the process aims to be zero-mile, with 70 hectares already cultivated for the production of beer barley.
An ambitious project, supported by the Consorzio Birra Italiana and Coldiretti Sardegna, which aims to make craft beer a symbol of the territory, as much as carasau bread or pecorino cheese .
Antonio Zanda and Mauro Loddo thus become part of a board of directors that unites Italy from north to south, with leading figures such as Marco Farchioni (Umbrian Master Brewers) and Giuseppe Biundo (Birrificio Bruno Ribadi).
