Carbonia was among the first Sardinian cities in 2020 to register the victims of Covid .

In memory of that epidemic, today the Municipality adheres to the National Day and this morning it displayed the flags of the Town Hall in Piazza Roma and any other public building at half-mast.

"We still have - says Mayor Pietro Morittu - the dramatic images of the military vehicles that transported the bodies of a virus in Bergamo which at the time, exactly on March 18, 2020, was still unknown".

An epidemic which, although its effects have diminished compared to its origins, leads us not to let our guard down.

«On this symbolic day - adds the mayor - our goal is to preserve and renew the memory of all the people who lost their lives due to Covid, some of them from Carbonia, and to show gratitude to those who contributed to safeguarding health collective: from researchers to doctors, from health personnel to civil protection, from the forces of order to voluntary associations".
