At the Microcitemico of Cagliari "a radiological device is used which does not appear to comply with the regulations on radiation protection". The complaint is signed by the provincial secretary of Cagliari of the Fials union, Paolo Cugliara, and by the colleague in charge of Southern Sardinia, Giampaolo Mascia. From the ASL they reply: "That machine has been declared out of order and is no longer used".

In a story where two versions of the timing of decommissioning are compared, there is one certainty: today in via Jenner there is a switched-off appliance which is about to be replaced.

Cugliara and Mascia had written in recent days: "During the execution of each exam" the machine "would usually exceed the radiation doses permitted by current legislation, so much so that in 2020 its urgent replacement would have already been ordered".

The trade unionists argued that "the change has not yet taken place due to the fact that the premises would need major adaptation works aimed at making them suitable from a structural point of view". If the situation were to be confirmed, the trade unionists accused, "it would reveal a huge risk both for the health of the patients treated (with greater importance for the young patients currently in charge) and for health professionals".

The letter with the request for clarification had been sent to the top management of the ASL, who ensured that the machinery was put out of use and replaced with another one: functional and (almost) new. Which will guarantee efficiency and protection of patients and operators.
