"We absolutely must complete the work by the end of July." Salvatore Campione, ANAS manager in Sardinia, assures that the planned schedule for the work on State Road 195 will be met.

The road connecting Cagliari to all the towns (and beaches, given that summer is upon us) on the western side of the Golfo degli Angeli needs repairs due to the passage of Cyclone Harry in January.

It was impossible to act sooner: to open the construction site, it was necessary to wait for the completion of the Port Authority's work on the roundabout at the Conti Vecchi junction. And if there are any disruptions, Anas assures that it has made every effort to mitigate them.

"We shared the route, ensuring one lane was always open," says Campione, "and this can only be achieved by working during daylight hours, thus ensuring the movement of construction vehicles and the safety of workers."

Night work, which would speed up the process? "It would have been possible if the entire stretch of road had been closed. In that case, we could have worked for 24 hours. We would probably have reduced the time, but it would have been necessary to close the entire roadway, diverting all traffic onto the consortium roads. So we chose to proceed differently."

Drivers fear delays. Campione assures: "No, the possibility of delays exceeding the schedule is not an option. We absolutely must complete the work by the end of July." The 31st is the crucial deadline.
