Not operational before 2027. This is the fate of the hospitals and community homes in Sardinia , the two pillars of the reform of territorial healthcare provided for by the PNRR with funding of around one hundred million.
Today, the governor and interim health councilor Alessandra Todde announced that the Region has reached the target set by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). These targets include 59 community homes made available and equipped with the necessary technological equipment, and 17 community hospitals renovated and also equipped with advanced healthcare technologies.
"This isn't the end of the road," Todde clarified. " Many construction sites need to be completed, and for this reason, €10 million will be allocated in a budget adjustment . Now the challenge will be to transform them into real facilities with service charters and staff who will obviously provide the services that will help reconnect the region with healthcare."
Then a clarification: "This result exceeds the objectives originally assigned to the Region. The initial program called for the activation of 50 homes and 13 hospitals. Thanks to the updated regional program approved by the Regional Council in 2026, the territorial network has been further expanded."
Year zero will be 2027, said Health Director General Thomas Schael: "Right now, we're defining, building, and negotiating, and all of this will converge in 2027." Beginning or end of the year? "We're giving ourselves 2027 as a framework for testing," Todde added.
