"Cocaine use is a concern in Sardinia; urgent measures are needed."

This is the complaint of the Sardinian MP of the League Dario Giagoni , who announced the presentation of a parliamentary question to the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Health.
"The most recent data collected by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, relating to 2024, highlights a particularly worrying situation in some areas of Northern Sardinia, with Gallura emerging as one of the regions most exposed to the phenomenon," Giagoni explains. He adds: "We can no longer afford to underestimate a situation that, year after year, is becoming increasingly serious."
The question calls on the Government to take "urgent and concrete measures to combat drug dealing at the local level, including the implementation of dog units, control tools, and an increase in law enforcement personnel." And, secondarily, "the launch of prevention and information campaigns aimed particularly at young people and their families."
"Recent legal news," the Northern League representative emphasizes, "confirms that extremely serious incidents can be linked to substance use. What we see is often just the tip of the iceberg. Habitual use profoundly alters the nervous system and can lead to behaviors that are dangerous for oneself and others."

Furthermore, Giagoni states, "we urgently need to rethink the current punishment system for drug dealers, so that it is truly deterrent and adequately severe in light of this serious phenomenon. I will be categorical: those who sell death must be brought to justice without any further concessions or mitigating circumstances of any kind. The state must make its presence felt clearly and decisively. Saving young people and protecting communities is a duty that the state and politicians can no longer postpone. We need," Giagoni concludes, "a clear, comprehensive, and lasting response, and the involvement of all institutions at every level."
