They trafficked drugs from Campania to Sardinia, specifically to Sassari. For several months in 2015, cocaine arrived from Naples hidden in postal packages, then sold in various locations throughout the area by a network of dealers based in the Sant'Orsola neighborhood of Sassari, the capital of the province.
Law enforcement intervention led to the dismantling of the network and the indictment of nine people for criminal conspiracy aimed at drug possession and trafficking.
The members of that group have already been tried, both through the summary and ordinary trial procedures, but only one person remained, a 50-year-old woman from Naples, accused of having played a role in the organization, where many of its members were relatives, some of whom even lived in the same building. She was accused of cooperating in the procurement and custody of the drugs, acting as an intermediary between the supplier and the others.
During the hearing in the Assize Court of Sassari in recent days, the prosecutor of the Cagliari DDA, Guido Pani, requested a five-year sentence and a €25,000 fine for the woman, represented by lawyer Claudio Mastandrea, for several drug-related charges, but deemed the charge of criminal conspiracy unproven.
The panel, chaired by Monia Adami, with Valentina Nuvoli and Paolo Bulla on her sides, adjourned the hearing until September for replies and a ruling.
