Sardinia remains in seventh place, after the leap forward recorded in 2023, with 2,364 environmental crimes, equal to +13.9% compared to the previous year.

In 2024, 2,076 crimes were recorded, 1,857 people were reported, and 46 arrests were made. This is the summary of Legambiente's new report, "Ecomafia 2025. The numbers and stories of environmental crimes in Italy," presented today in Rome.

According to the dossier, Sardinia also leads the way in archaeo-mafia. Clandestine excavations and raids on archaeological sites, thefts, and illegal art trafficking: 126 crimes. Nuoro and Sassari fare poorly.

At the provincial level, Cagliari, together with Perugia, Crotone, Catanzaro and Brescia, enters the top 20.

Specifically, the island ranks sixth in the waste category, with 580 crimes, 710 reported individuals, 32 arrests, and 75 seizures. The province of Sassari is 17th, and Cagliari is 20th.

Sardinia ranks thirteenth in terms of concrete-related abuses and illegalities: 406 crimes, 370 reports, 7 arrests, and 62 seizures.

Furthermore, regarding illicit trafficking and animal cruelty, the island is eleventh: no arrests, but 347 crimes.

Finally, the report highlights how Sardinia is seventh in the fire ranking , with Cagliari, Sassari and Nuoro in the top twenty cities.
