The Sassari Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigation into the alleged use of Church funds for private use involving Antonino Becciu - brother of Cardinal Angelo - and the bishop of Ozieri Corrado Melis, who now risk being sent to trial.

The news was reported exclusively by Tg1, according to which the prosecutors, among other things, accuse the suspects of charges of embezzlement and money laundering. The amount under investigation would be around 2 million euros.

Also involved in the investigation, explains Tg1, are the director of Caritas Don Mario Curzu, Antonino Becciu's partner, Giovanna Pani, and the latter's daughter. For his part, the lawyer of the suspects speaks of "unfounded accusations".

The same Tg1 also reports the words of Fabio Viglione, lawyer of Monsignor Angelo Becciu, whose name appears in an excerpt of the investigation sent by the Sassari Prosecutor's Office to the Vatican Justice: «We have no news of new investigations», said the legal.
